Ep. 34: Steven Gilbar

Steven Gilbar discussed his varied career as an editor and writer with host Fred Klein. Gilbars many books about literature include The Book Book: A Compendium of Lists, Quizzes, and Trivia About Books, Good Books: A Book Lover’s Companion, and Published & Perished: Memoria, Eulogies & Remembrances of American Writers (with Dean Stewart). He has also edited three anthologies of stories of Santa Barbara: Tales of Santa Barbara: From Native Storytellers to Sue Grafton (with Dean Stewart), Red Tiles, Blue Skies: More Tales of Santa Barbara, and Santa Barbara Stories. His new book is titled Compton, Kern, Truckee. and Weed: The Men and Women who Gave their Names to Places in California.

Ep. 33: Paul Fedorko

Literary agent Paul Fedorko was in town speaking at the Santa Barbara Writers Conference, so he stopped by to discuss the publishing biz with host Fred Klein. Paul has been a literary agent at N.S. Bienstock and Trident Media Group, prior to that he ran The Paul Fedorko Agency and spent more than 20 years as a publishing and marketing executive at Bantam Doubleday Dell, Simon & Schuster and William Morrow.

Make a video, build your author platform

I’ve been so busy lately producing videos that I haven’t had a chance to write a blog post, and blogging is something I have to do to build my author platform. Having video about you, and your books is another good way of building your author platform. Book trailers and author pitch videos are popping up all over the web, so I thought I’d blog about how authors can make videos to help them market their writing.
