Welcome to Angle on Writing! This website is designed to offer information to beginning fiction writers. Although, writers of all levels, as well as nonfiction writers and poets, can find it useful.

A substantial part of writing is rewriting—polishing your work until it will dazzle editors and readers. First, revise your piece the best you can on your own. See the Revision Checklist for some helpful hints. Then run it by other writers. This is where a good writers’ group comes in handy. If you can’t find one you like in your area, then start your own.

Of course, every writer will benefit from classes, conferences and how-to books. Some of the best books about the craft of fiction writing are included in the Recommended Reading list.

If you want to introduce “living, breathing” characters into your fiction, check out the page on Character Development.

Coming soon to Angle on Writing will be a section of non-fiction tip sheets. Check back for updates.

And remember, writing is like a slot machine. Sometimes you have to just sit there plugging in words until ding! ding! ding! You hit the jackpot and the story comes rolling out. Good luck!

Sincerely,
Lisa Angle
